Once duplicates were taken out, we received 391 applications.

3 Assessors read each application to ensure a range of insights and assessments, providing feedback according to the assessment criteria. Following this, across a week the Assessment panel and Another Route team met to share views and responses and recommended applications to move forward.

Across 12 hours of collective conversation every application was discussed. The meetings were steered by Total Theatre Network, to ensure the conversations were in depth, robust, had rigor, were objective and rooted in the context of the contemporary performance landscape.

At the end of the 5-day Assessment process when all applications had been thoroughly discussed, the group collectively and democratically shortlisted a final 52 applications to be put forward to an independent panel to select the final 12.

  • 7 people were invited to join the selection panel.

    Selection Panel

The selection panel were a mix of Artists, Producers, Programmers and Curators working across circus, dance, live art and theatre over 5 continents.

Malu Ansaldo (Argentina/UK) Meredith Boggia (USA) Francisco Frazão (Portugal)
    Kee Hong Low (Hong Kong)
    Molly Nicholson (UK)
    Harun Morrison (UK)
    Ahilan Ratnamohan (Australia/Belgium)

The panel read all 52 applications and viewed all supporting material submitted. Following which they met across a series of meetings to explore the applications and collectively agree the final 12 artists for this Another Route fellowship, within the context of the published criteria. The Panel meetings were independently chaired by Emma Beverley (UK).

Balance and representation were considered throughout all stages of the selection process.

The 12 selected artists were informed and invited to accept a place on the Fellowship, which they all did.

All other applicants were informed and given general feedback and offered specific feedback if requested.

Selected artists are to be announced in May 2022.
